I got a lakeside campsite in late August. Beautiful location, being close to the lake. It was a wet year, so the climb down to the water was only about 3'. As others have said, some of the structures are in need of repair, and the sites are close together. There were many vacancies when I was there, so noise and smoke were not a problem. I accidentally something in the campground, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful in getting it back to me.
Great campsite experience. Wish the bathrooms were in a better situation but great overall and easy access to the water which is helpful once it gets super hot during the day. My third time here and coming back for sure.
We planned to stay two nights at the campground (site 89). When we arrived, a group had already set up at our site and asked us to take 90 instead. While awkward, the two sites are pretty similar so we agreed. These sites are dusty and small. They are also VERY close together so that you can see and hear everyone around you (more on that later).
That day it was 100+ degrees and, while our site had a small amount of shade, it didn’t really matter. The heat was unbearable all over the campground. Be aware that some sites (close to the parking lot) have no shade. My friend felt like they were camping on the face of the sun.
After setting up camp, a group of campers arrived at their sites below ours from the lake (SO close together). They began to yell obscenities at one another nonstop and smoke large amounts of weed. Our kids were shocked and we were extremely annoyed. I have no problem with weed smoke but these folks smoked nonstop and it was always wafting over to our site (9 AM - 11 PM).
The sites are tiny but we made it work. Once we got settled and it was time to sleep, we were expecting the camp staff to quiet all the campers down. Quiet hours start at 10. Our neighbors at sites 88 & 89 then decided to blast their music. The staff came by to quiet them at 11:00 but this only worked for about 10 minutes. During this time our neighbors would walk by our tent (only one way in and out of our row) while shouting lyrics and blasting music from their portable speakers past midnight. Our weed smoking, colorfully worded neighbors had lowered their music but were talking so loud we could hear every word they said.
The next day we headed down to the lake. It was bonkers crowded but the water was nice and we found a decent spot by the water with a nice enough shore. While we had fun playing in the water and jet skiing with friends, the lake sheriff was constantly busting people for dangerous behavior on their jet skis. We stepped on broken bottles in the water and had people fighting with us about who’s shore was who’s.
The one thing this campground has going for it is the staff. They were very kind and clearly were trying to manage the poor behavior of the campers. The store, while a bit expensive, was clean and the staff friendly.
In the end, we left before our second night. We had barely slept the first night and didn’t expect anything to change the second. Look, I get it. This probably sounds like some Karen whining about their hurt feelings. Please let me be clear, it is not my sensitivity at play here. This place is just that rough. We’ve camped all over Northern California and this place is by far the worst place we’ve ever camped. Unless you’re looking to party 24/7, this place is family camping hell.
Was very busy that day. We took our boat and launched it and then found a place within walking distance from the parking lot. It was at the water and we were able to tie up the boat there when we weren't in it. Had a nice picnic lunch and swam. Able to walk to the bathrooms and an employee was very diligent on keeping the trask cans empty. Nice day had by all.
Made a reservation for my Travel Trailer not really knowing the layout of the campgrounds. When I arrived and looked at the site, I realized it was not the greatest site. I was able to speak with the new owner Jake. Jake was able to shift some things around and get me a great spot looking directly at the lake. the campgrounds were clean and store was stocked with anything needed. Highly recommend and will be staying again.
Stayed for the 4th of July long weekend, but the heat was intolerable! Made us realize that there are not enough trees to keep cool during peak hours. (Tent camping) my family and I had tent sites #36 and #37. #37 gets sun all day! I do not recommend this site. I think for next time, i will pass on these campgrounds.
Campsite was nice, amenities were fair, but quiet hours were NOT enforced and people were partying with extremely loud music, yelling, and screaming that could be heard throughout the campground. I couldn't sleep at ALL. Would never return, probably only ok for day-use
We didn't get rooms. We camped in tents. We were however put in straight heat, no shade at all. Parking is expensive if you stay for a few days. Some of our group had to pay $25.00 a day. We stayed for 3 days, so $75.00 for Parking. The little store they had was Very expensive!!!! $6.00 for a 1lb. Bag!! We had to buy lots of ice each day because it was so hot!.
